I don't think it is. J.E. Carnahan stayed in Canada only a year, the weather was too severe and after one of his sons (don't know which) told his mother (Bertha) he'd been followed by a wolf on his way to school, Edna (Joseph's youngest daughter / my grandmother) left with the impression that Bertha persuaded Joseph prospects were better in the U.S.
They did return to the U.S., Seattle, living in Ballard for a short time, then Kansas, owner/operator of a photography studio, then returning to Brackenridge, PA., for while before settling in Fayetteville, AR., where Joseph, wife Bertha, and daughter Ruby lived out their lives and are buried.
