George A. Carnahan
September 15, 1916 -- April 12, 2011

George Adrian Carnahan passed away at his farmhouse in Ripon, California on April 12, 2011, after a long battle with congestive heart disease. He was 94.
George was one of the four Carnahan brothers from Wilcox, Arizona, who made their way to California in the 1940s.
George served in the United States Navy in the late 1930s, and again in World War II.
Soon after the war, George and his wife, Jean, settled in Ripon, California, where he began an almond orchard that he would actively farm until the last months of his life.
The orchard prospered, and George, while remaining in the San Joaquin Valley most of the time, also owned homes in Sonora and Berkeley.
George loved to fish and hunt. He was a Grand Slam trophy hunter, and he several times caught near-record steelhead at his favorite fishing spot, the Dean River in British Columbia.
George's passing is preceded by that of his wife, Jean, and his brothers Frank and Ralph.
In northern California, he is survived by his son John, brother Paul, niece Gloria, and nephew Michael.
George was a kind man, loved by many in Ripon and beyond. His passing is the end of an era for all of us.
Services for George A. Carnahan will be held at 10AM on Saturday, April 23, at Deegan Funeral Chapel, 111 S. Palm Avenue at Main, in Ripon.
