Classification: Query
Surnames: Carrico, Carico
A member of the CARRICO Y-DNA Surname Project
http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/DNA/Carrico/CarricoDNA.shtml
has made a very generous offer to fully fund 67-marker tests for two key CARRICO lineages:
Peter CARRICO III (1722- ), son of Peter CARRICO II:
http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/FGS/Car/CarricoPeterIII-_.shtml
and his brother, Thomas Ignatius CARRICO (c1741-c1813):
http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/FGS/Car/CarricoThomasIgnatius-El...
These conditions apply: 1) that you are a male surnamed CARRICO or CARICO with a patrilineal (direct male line) descent from one of the above [no females can break the chain of descent]; 2) that you provide your paper genealogy in sufficient detail that the donor and the project admin are satisfied your connection is genuine; and 3) that you sign the Release allowing your results to be publicly shared. (Note that publicly sharing your results does not mean publicly sharing your identity.)
You have the option of two levels of privacy. You can be tested as an "Anonymous CARRICO" with the project admin serving as the contact person for your account. In this case, only the project admin and the donor necessarily need know who you are, but I strongly discourage this level of secrecy. Rather, I would suggest the standard level of privacy, in which your name and email address are shared, but only privately and only with those for whom you are a DNA match (i.e., other CARRICOs who have also been tested). Either option provides you with public anonymity.
Personally, I do not see the need for any level of privacy, and I show my complete DNA test results, including my mtDNA FGS (full genetic sequence) online:
http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/DNA/mtDNA-T-haplotree-DGM.shtml
But I do and will respect the wishes of anyone preferring to maintain their privacy.
Each of these subsidies is a testing value worth hundreds of dollars. Only one test per ancestor is being offered, so in each case, the first person to contact me who fulfills the conditions gets the test.
