Here is some info on Commadore(Camaduse) Carico:
1860 census,Carroll Co., Glade Twnshp.
Simeon Carico - 27 yrs
Elizabeth Allen 25 - yrs.
Commadore - 7yrs.
Florida - 5 yrs
Alexander - 2 yrs
#700/704 - pg.#107

Born May 14, 1854

The reason I have this info is I am searching for Simeon Carico, my grt.grdfather. All the people that I have conferred with is saying that Simeon and Simeon Simms are the same person. But according to the Valley of the Shadows military records that they are not.
Hopes this helps in some way. You see I'm from Pa. and my ancestors are all from Virgina, on my mothers side. It is hard to find out much on them. My info was that Simeon married Nancy J. Burford, so I am wondering if this info I gave you might be mine futher sown the line. I have come to a stop with this confusing side.

Thank you for the information on Commadore Carico.

This is the information I have been able so far to find on the internet:

Simms Carico (ca1832 bef 1880)Elizabeth Catherine Bishop (ca 1830-5 Nov. 1915) ? They md 25 April 1852 Surry Co., NC. They lived in Carroll Co., Va in the 1850's and then, they left but I do notknow where they moved to.
Children:l. Commadore Carico, bn 14 May 1853 (Carroll Co., Va bth records).
2.Alexander Lafayette Carico, bn l May 1858 (Carroll Co. bth records). md Elizabeth Quesenberry 24 Aug 1877, Floyd Co., Va. dtr of Fleming and Catherine (Duncan)Quesenberry.
3. Florida Carico bn ca 1855
4. Alice Carico bn ca 1860
5. James Carico bn ca 1871

Simms Carico is the son of Simms Carico and (2) Margaret (Roten) Carico. They md 1 July 1827, Grayson Co., Va. His first wife was Rebecca Hanks who died ca 1827. Simms died 10 May 1844, Grayson Co., Va. Simms and Rebecca were md 23 Nov 1813, Grayson Co., Va.
Sims and Rebecca had the following childre: Joshua K., Martin, Charlotte,Cynthia Ann and Joseph. Sims and (2) Margaret had: William G., Alexander,Simms, Nancy, Andrew Jackson and James Madison.
Simms Carico was the son of Abel Carico and (probably) Ann Kent. I believe they came from Charles, Maryland. Abel Carrico is the sone of Abel Carrico and Elizabeth Sims. That is where the Sims/Simms name came from in this family. Carl Clark, whose wife sent me this information is descended from Abel and Ann Carico's son William Carico. he was a Methodist minister in Grayson/Carroll Counties, Va. William md Jane Taylor but no marriage record has been found for them

I hope this will help you. You may contact Dolores Clark and cclark@worldnet.att.net (Carl Clark)

This was great information for me as the Commadore Carico we are speaking about came on a cattle drive to the Shelby, North Carolina area and remained here as a young man never returning to his family as far as we know. He stayed in the Shelby area and married a local girl, Annie Barrett Carico and they had 5 sons:John, James, Monroe, George Marvin "Bud", and Samuel Commadore. One daughter: Annie. Monroe is my grandfather on my Mother's side of the family.
If I can help anymore, please e-mail me at JSapoch@aol.com

Hi,
Just a note to let you know that my mother is the daughter of Hobart and Maude Carico. Hobart was the son of William Alexander and Sarah Minton and was born in 1893 in Carico Hollow in Coeburn. My mom's family moved to Abington in or around 1926 or 1927 and lived in Abington for many many years. My mom married in 1947 and moved to Roxboro NC where we live today. Please feel free to contact us at my e-mail address any time.
Thanks!

I have history of Carrico's from various sources.
My husband is related to Andrew Jackson Carrico.
I will have to check my paperwork to see if I can
find two Simms/Simeons. I have been looking for
Margaret Roten dates and parents. Can any of
you help me out?? she is a brick wall. The
Carrico's came from France/Basque area.

In reply to Trish Wrenn and Helen Carico Morton re Maude and Hobart Carico. These are not names I have found at this point. Although I do believe all the Carico's are related. The Carico Hollow in Coeburn I assume your talking about Virginia. Please let me know if it is another state. Sarah William are names that are on my list.

Please send me your e-mail address. I look forward to your reply. My e-mail address is jSapoch@aol.com.

I am not sure whether I can help you out or not but I was conversing with Stephen Barlow about my G. Grandfather Simeon Carico and he had some info on Peggy Roten. This is line of the family. As for me I still have not come up with any info on my Simeon. His address is SBarlow@MediaOne.Com. Maybe he can give you the info that you need. If not I will try to keep looking for it.
