Hi, my name is Christine D'Anjou and Jean Baptiste Caouette and Mathilde Caouette were my great grandparents. they emigrated to New Bedford Massachusetts in 1891 and are recorded in the 1900 US census as John and Mardina. Mathilde's name changes over the next 30 years from Maudena to Mardina to Mathilde. She was born in July 1856. Although her age changes over the years! They had 9 living children: Rennie, Emile, Wilfred, Victor, Flora, Eda (sometimes recorded as Ada), Joseph, Theodore and Laura. Laura was my grandmother who married Jules D'Anjou

Hi-

Just came on this message board through searching to confirm the lineage of my wife's mother's family (Caouette/Cahouet).

The line I have starts with Jean Caouet and Marie Vallee from Brittany, France.
They came to Ile d'Orleans, Quebec. From there they (son Pierre and M.-Anne Gauderau)went to Cap St. Ignace. There were his son Thomas, then his grandson Jacques who went to l'Islet.
There is a Jean Baptiste, but I don't think it was the same one you mention because he marreid Julie Lebreux in Cap St. Ignace in 1836. Most of these families had a lot of kids, so it is not easy to trace a particular line. We do have a bit more info if you think it would be useful. Hope some of this helps.
Good luck.

Surnames: Fortin Rossignol Beaulieu
Please help. I'm trying to find out info on my GGG grandmother, Judith Caouette (b. 1767; married Joseph Jean Baptiste Levesque on 11/21/1826). Her father was Jean Baptiste Caouette who married Marthe Fortin in 1739. JB's parents were Francoise Richard who married Thomas Caouette 10/18/1734 in Cap St Ignace. Does any of these names with the dates show up in your research? My aunts believe there is Indian blood in the family but it might be with one of the other names (Levesque, Rossignol, Beaulieu, Fortin) My email is odiliasumner@Gmail.com Any help would be appreciated.
