I am trying to find any information on George Cann and his wife Mary Ann (Cole) Cann. They resided in Devon (Northam/Bideford)
I am the Great, Great, Great grandchild of this couple.
There is a family story that George and Mary Ann were quite wealthy (although the census info I have found says he was a fisherman and his father was a boat carpenter). Both were killed in a buggy accident and their two small children (Florence and Blanche) were placed into an orphanage by their uncle, who then "stole" the family wealth. I'd love to know which uncle that was!
I do see in census materials that the two girls eventually end up living with an Aunt.
Blanche and Florence both eventually moved to Canada.
From what I can gather, George Cann was the son of Richard Cann and Elizabeth Handcock.
If anyone else has researched this part of the Cann family, I would love to take a look at what you have been able to find.
