I'm looking for an Almeda Canfield b. 9 Jan 1802 possibly of Essex County, NY. She married Nathaniel Martin in Fleming (Aurelius), Cayuga, New York in 1823. They had the following children: Polly Ann, Johanna, Edward S., Abbie Sophia, and Maryette or Marietta. They moved to Oakland County, Michigan with some of the Martins around 1835, and then ultimately to Salem, Washtenaw, Michigan, where she died in 1879. I don't know of any Canfield relatives. Does anyone have any Canfields in these times and locales?

On a side note--Almeda's son Edward on the 1920 census lists his mother's native tongue as Welsh. Also, some of her children occasionally list mother's birthplace as Vermont on various censuses. These could be important clues, or red herrings.
