I know very little about my Grandfather since neither my Dad nor my Grandmother ever spoke of my Grandfather Melescio Canales or her first husband Jose Martinez.
The only known history of my Grandfather Melescio Canales, is that his brother was Benito Canales a famous Revolutionary from Mexico. There have been movies made of Benito Canales as well as a ballad written about his life and death at the hands of the Federales on 14 October 1912.
The extent of the information I have is information shared with me by Gilbert Fuentes Canales from Chicago Illinois. .Gilbert has had written communication with a historian living in Purandiro Michoacan by the name of
Jose Loreto Cervantes Canales.Mr Jose Loreto Cervantes Canales has compiled the history of Benito Canales and recorded the history in a book. Gilbert is related how closely and by which line is yet to be determined. According to Gilbert the following information was extracted from Mr Jose Loretos’ book and correspondence the known family roots begin in Tres Mesquites Michoacan Mexico where it is known that Benito Canales was born.
Maximo Canales married Maria del Refugio Godinez.Their union gave birth to 3 sons,Benito,Melescio(Melicio?),Crecensio. Benito Canales had 4 sons Porfirio,Mariano,Antonio, Melquides and 1 daughter,Maria de Jesus Would appreciate any and all information.I can be contacted directly at bennycanales@ymail.com

Thank You,

Jose loreto is my uncle and he stills lives and he is not the one who wrote the book. the original book was written and told by maria de jesus his daughter and another lady who lived in bajio named rosailda gutierrez juntado toda historia. Benito's daughter was 13-14 yrs old when he got shot she was actually hiding from the ones who were looking for benito. we have the orginal book. there were only a coupe books made by rosailda. im jus letting u know.
