BERNICE RIPLEY CANADAY 1926-2015

(Margaret) Bernice Ripley Canaday was born to William Ripley and Mildred Allen in 1926 in Omaha, Nebraska.
During World War II she attended Georgetown University, while employed by the FBI.
She attended the University of Nebraska where she met Donald Canaday, an airman from the Lincoln Air Base, and they were married Nov. 21, 1945.

She studied banking at the University of Wisconsin followed by employment with First National Bank (now BancOhio), where she retired as a vice president, in 1982.

She was civically active and dedicated to the city of Cambridge, Ohio.

Bernice served as treasurer for the Ohio Arts & Crafts Guild as well as being a Friend of the Library and treasurer/president of the Guernsey County Historical Society (10 years).
Bernice and others founded the Celtic Society of Southeastern Ohio and assisted in the popular Robert Burns Night.
She and Donald were members of Christ Lutheran Church in Cambridge, OH for nearly 50 years.

Bernice was closely involved with the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Girl Scouts, the MacMillan Clan, the Kennedy Society of North America (national treasurer for 14 years), the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Ohio (state treasurer 1997-2005; with proven direct descent from 12 Mayflower passengers).

She leaves three children, Donald Jr., Laura, and John; as well as one sister, Norma; and five grandchildren, Amy (Indiana), Andrew (Indiana), James (California), Terence (Germany) and Stephanie (Germany); and four great-grandchildren, (Alexander, Gabriel, Jordyn, and Joshua).

Visitation will be on Friday at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, Cambridge, Ohio from 6 to 8 p.m.

A graveside service will take place on Saturday in Willow Grove Cemetery, Fountain City, Indiana, at 11 a.m.
