I have a tree on the descendents of John Camac & Elizabeth Turner. John Camac 1713-1790. Many of his children were in the HEICS (Honourable East India Company Service). Happy to share family tree details and would appreciate any further information.

Hi Trevor

There is a book written that you can download from the internet called "The Camacs of County Down" which gives a full history of the family :

There are Camacs still alive in QLD on the Sunshine Coast that I can put you in touch with if interested.

Hi John

Thanks for your reply.
I already have downloaded a copy of The Camacs of County Down.

I am very interested to find out more about the early camac"s before the groups split up.
My information indicates originally Camac"s were in Essex England and that there was one branch who went to Ireland and onto USA , possibly another to Australia?
Do you have any further info?

Regards
Trevor Camac

I am interested in a John Cramsie Camac born 30 Sep 1927 in Derbyshire, UK. Is he part of your family or do you have any info on him. Thx!

Henry,
The John Cramsie Camac I am trying to find the Cramsie ancestors for was a Doctor in Swadlincote, Derbyshire and he spent his national service in Nairobi and Lusaka in Africa. His father was also a physician in Swadlincote, because his son replaced him when his father died. I don't know his father's name, but it might be a good assumption that his mother's maiden name was Cramsie. This is the connection I am trying to make. I would surmise that his father was born sometime around 1900, but don't know for sure. If you think that he is related to the Camac family that you mentioned then yes I would like to have access to it to determine where the Cramsie connection might be. The Cramsie's have roots in Northern Ireland so that might be the connection. Thanks and look forward to hearing from you.
