The family biography in Butler Co. AL Callens is mine. I have been researching for more data ever since I posted. I have found some more documentation that might change some of the information especially on the John C. Callen and Agness R. Callen line. I was mainly interested in Robert H. Callen because I believe my Dorcas Callen b.1829 FL d. 6-16, 1886 Butler Co., AL was his daughter. Also John Carr Callen b. 7-1-1825NC d. 4-21-1904 Butler Co., AL was his son and Robert H. Callen jr. b. 1833 was his son. Some have them listed as Ross Callen's children. Ross only had 4 daughters and 2 of them died young. I have data on Robert in Fl and his death 10-11-1834 recorded in the Wallace family data. An orbituary written by Margaret Farr Callen Glass Kirkpatrick in the Greenville, Butler Co. newspaper. This is long, but it might help others researching the children of Wm Callen Sr. NC.
"Ross Callen was born in North Carolina and died in Texas, nearly 88 years old. He was married to Miss Elizabeth W. Foster in Mecklenburg, NC in 1821/22 where he remained until 1831. He moved with his wife and 4 daughters to Butts Co., GA and lived working at his trade of blacksmith until 1838. While living in Georgia one of his daughters died, *(Ann Clementine b. 1825) also one of his brothers died leaving a large family largely dependent upon him. His generous heart took four of his brother's orphans and raised them as his own. In 1838, he moved his family to Butler Co., AL and they lived here quite a number of years. Once again death claimed his younges daughter.(Mary Foster b. 1828). The 2 surviving daughters married and were left widows with small children. On the 25th of December, 1873, the loving wife and fond old mother was taken from those on earth. Mr. and Mrs. Callen joined the Presbyterian Church, Rocky River NC. The children were baptised and came into full communion. In 1855 or so, Mr. Callen was ordained ruling elder in Sandy Ridge Church, Lowndes County and remained until 1886 when he went with his grandsons RC and WF Glass, whom he had raised from infancy to Texas. He has 2 daughters, 11 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and a large number of friends to mourn his death. MFK "
The surviving children were Margaret F. Callen Glass Kirkpatrick and Nancy H. Callen Pickens.

I have other data on Robert H. Callen. He and Elizabeth had 5 children before 1830 and at least 2 after 1830. Some have him as the son of Wm Callen Jr.-data from the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of Cabarrus Co July 15, 1805-April 23, 1817 appointed Moses Alexander guardian of Wm's children George, James, William, and Sarah. In 1828, James A. Callen was appointed guardian of Sarah his sister, she being the youngest child. It seems James and family moved to Cherokee, AL including mother and sister Sarah.
