I need some information regarding this 1880 Federal Census listing that I found taken in Caldwell, Sumner, Kansas:
Josephine FENNS - self - married - female - white - 24 years old - birthplace IL - occupation keeping house - father birthplace Scotland - mother birthplace Canada.
Cora MASON - daughter - single - female - white - 8 years old - birthplace KS - father birthplace IN - mother birthplace IL.
John CALDWELL - other - single - male - white - 24 years old - birthplace MO - father birthplace VA - mother birthplace KY.
Who is this John CALDWELL, where did he go from here and why was he listed with this Josephine FENNS, was it because there was some relationship as her being his sister-in-law or cousin or just a worker at her household???
My reason for wanting info' on this is because I am seeking my great-grandfather, John Jack CALDWELL.
Here is some interesting information that I have found so far concerning my great-grandfather, John Jack 'Sarge' CALDWELL, who came to the Montana territory and worked as a scout for Fort Keogh about February 1881 among the Assiniboine & Sioux Indians near the Missouri River. After his term of enlistment, he worked for the N - N (Neidrunghaus and Neidrunghaus, a cattle company that ran cattle from the Texas Panhandle into Montana) as a ranch hand or boss possibly between the years of 1883 - 1910. He was last listed in the Glasgow Valley Census of 1910, as living south of Frazer in a dugout near the Missour River at an area called Prairie Elk.
In the Glasgow Valley Census, he stated himself as being born about 1862 in the state of Missouri along with his mother being born in Virginia and his father being born in Kentucky.
I am seeking any more information from anyone out here, who may have a connection to this man - prior to his coming to Montana and possibly even after he disappeared from our area.
If you have any information concerning this man, who is my great-grandfather - please leave a message or contact me. There is more information that I can share concerning him. PINAMIYA (thank you in Assiniboine)
