Hello,
I am an amateur local historian in High Wych, Herts, UK. One subject of current research is Daniel Cakebread who on 31-12-1839 was in court for having stolen 20 bushels of barley. Daniel was given 7 years and transportation (to Australia?) I am trying to find out what happened to him afterwards.Did he go to Australia? Was he reprieved? Did he die aboard ship?
Daniel was born in 1813 most probably in Sawbridgeworth Herts. In 1837 he married Ellen Parmore. In 1838 Ellen and Daniel had a daughter: Sarah. By 1841 Ellen Cakebread was living in "Hand Cottages Sawbridgeworth without Daniel or daughter Sarah.
Can anybody help me find out more ?
Thanks,
