Cajthaml Family from Radnitz ~ Radnice, West Bohemia

Surnames: Cajthaml, Sidehamer, Sidehammer, Seithaml, Zeithammer
Greetings --

Thought I'd get the 'ball rolling' on this new board by asking if anybody has knowledge of Cajthaml family members living in the Pilsen (Plzen) region of West Bohemia (present day Czech Republic); this family surname was anglisized to Sidehamer here in the States (also, Sidehammer, Seithaml, Sidehamel, Zeithammer, and more).

The family apparently came from a coal mining village 12 miles (20km) northeast of Plzen, called Radnitz (German spelling; present day "Radnice").

Several Cajthaml family groups emmigrated to Westmoreland County, in Pennsylvania.

Any further knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

My grandfather was Joseph A. Seidehamel. He was born to Vaclav Cajthaml in 1897 in Westmoreland County PA. Vaclav was married to Anna Cajthaml (Fisher?). Vaclav was killed in the Standard Shaft mine at the age of 36. I recently visited the mine and his grave marker.

My father, Richard Joseph Seidehamel recently traveled to the Czech Republic. Looking for a connection to Vaclav Cajthaml in West Bohemia. I have been unable to connect Vaclav Cajthaml to relations in West Bohemia but anxiously await.

Hey Kevin,

Glad you posted your message!

We are most probably cousins, however, in addition to NOT being able to make any connections in the 'Old Country' (like you), I haven't found the common link between the Cajthaml familes in Westmoreland.
I'm going to send you an invite to my tree, and hope to speak with you on the phone.
Regards,
Glenn (Ances 'gfride')
