Hello all.
My Grandfather, William Frederick Drahn married a Callie Caise, Oct. 6, 1895 in Stone Co. MO. They had a daughter, Modine born Dec. 1, 1897.
The family story is Callie was a German girl from Russia. She was married there to a Russian soldier and they had a family. One day the American immigration came and took Callie and deported her back to her her husband in Russia. The child stayed with the father. The 1900 census reports Modine's mother from Russia.
A cousin recently found a WWW site with a reference to a
Callie Caise marriage in Northern Florida. No dates given.
As the German-Russian exodus occured long before Callie was born, the story is very suspect. The separation/divorce had to have been before 1904, as that is when William married for the second time. I am a descendant of the second marriage.
Modine Drahn died from whooping cough at age 18 in Idaho.
Can anyone help with any information on this family mystery?
Thanks, Paul Drahn, Redmond, Oregon
