I'll email you tonight with information on what I have. Unfortunately, I am divorced from my sons' father and he has no contact with them. I've tried to trace my sons' geneology with the information that I have but my ex-husband's family became pretty dysfunctional from the early 1900's onward. I do know that Alanzo Cahala's parents were a Mr. ? Cahala and Mary Ann Coffman (Kauffman). Mary Ann Kauffman was the daughter of Abraham Kauffman and Mary Strickler. There is alot of information on Rootsweb World Connect Project on that family. Also, the latter day saints website at
www.familysearch.com has information on the marriage date of Mary Ann Kauffman and Mr. Cahala. The Kauffman / Strickler family were Mennonites from Shenandoah County, Virginia. Mary Ann's father, Abraham Kauffman, moved from Virginia to Licking County, Ohio. At some point, some branch of that family had to have ended up in Indiana, which is where Cova and her husband were in later life. Hope this helps some, in case you did not have the information. Also, at one time, I had information stating that Alanzo Cahala and Rachel Roberts had each been married to someone else at some time. That was about seven years ago that I copied that information and somehow I've misplaced the information. But, I remember writing down the names of Alanzo Cahala's other wife and Rachel Roberts' other husband. I want to say that one of them had a last name that started with "Mc" something. I wish I could find that information again!! Your grandfather doesn't remember any names farther back in history? My grandmother (who is not related to any branch of this family) has helped alot with her early memories. She is 78 yrs. Let me know if this helps and I'll try to email you. I had tried awhile earlier and it didn't go through. My husband's mother is still alive and I'll call her tonight as well. She is the daughter of Florence Holland and the granddaughter of Cova Cahala. Maybe she can remember more. I'll be getting back to you.
