I have been researching my grandfather in Davenpoprt, Iowa, and came across a Clarence C. Cahail who was in business with him in 1910 as the Davenport Ice Cream and Supply Co. Clarence was in Davenport until about 1934, and then I have lost track of him. He was from Guthrie County, Iowa. Do you have any information about him?

Re: CAHAIL-- Cahill? Isaac Clements and wife Judith, question, pls

There is a "Cahail Family Tree" on Ancestry that asserts Isaac Clements (c1800 NC, c1878 Cocke TN) was husband to Judy Sumner. I was amazed about this tree, since I got stuck in Buncombe County, North Carolina and hadn't ever connected Mrs. Judith MNU Clemmons to her family. This got me wondering-- a person in my family descended from Judith Sumner and Isaac Clemens has taken the autosomal family finder dna test at ftdna. The person matches genetically to a person with the surname Cahill. Does the name Cohail or Cahail ever mutate to Cahill? Thank you.

(Isaac himself wrote his surname Clements. He evidently pronounced it Clemmens, because everyone else who ever wrote his surname left off the 't'.)
