The person I am trying to trace back is a Richard Chatt-Ramsey born in 1956 (Easington) and Christened in 1957 in the Durhamonline.com records.

I can not find a birth entry for Richard Chatt Ramsey and wondered if he may have been adopted. I believe him to be the son / adopted son of Edwin Chatt Ramsey (b Oct/Nov/Dec 1920) and Mary V Quinn (b 1921) married in 1955 in Durham.

Edwin Chatt Ramsey’s parents were Mary Thomas (b 18 August 1898) and Ernest Edwin Chatt. They married in 1915.

In 1920 Mary Chatt nee Thomas had a son Edwin Chatt (born at South Shields) and Mary Chatt nee Thomas went on to marry Robert Ramsey in 1924 (South Sheilds) which is when I believe Edwin’s name was altered to Edwin Chatt Ramsey therefore also taking on his step fathers surname.

What happened to Ernest Edwin Chatt ? I can not find a death in the UK for Ernest Edwin Chatt and wondered if he was many of the people who did not return at the end of WW1. Although for Edwin to have been born in 4Q of 1920, Ernest must have been around towards the end of 1919 / early 1920.

There are 2 births for the name Ernest Edwin Chatt.
1880 in Newcastle
1882 in Gateshead. The Gateshead one died the following year in 1883

I am presuming the forefather of Richard is the Ernest Edwin Chatt born in 1880 so he would have been 40 in 1920 when he seems to have disappeared.

my grandmother was mary chatt she married my grandfarther william anderson in the late 1818s thay lived in humbledon,sunderland,tyne and wear.

Sorry, have no mor info, as yet on Thomas Sanderson only that he married Margaret CHATT. But I have not done anything on this line for ages now, as it was for a friend. Seems likely that there would be some connection tho. Keep in touch if you get any more info, and I will do likewise.

Just wondering if you have anymore information about Thomas Sanderson. I have a Jacob Sanderson whose father was also named Jacob who would have been born in late 1820's or early 30''s in Allendale, Northumberland. Connection?

Just seen your post, I have been researching the CHATT family from Northumberland England (for a friend).
Farthest back,
I have Margaret CHATT had Thomas CHATT born Newcastle in 1830, before marrying his father Thomas SANDERSON at St \Peters and Allendale Chapel 1831/1832, Thomas was christened around same time on 18.10.1831. He kept the name CHATT and went on to marry Magret CHATT (1938) they had at least 9 children, most of them born at Barnard Castle Durham,

I know it is a long time since your post, but just wondered if you have any connection.

Would be interested in any info you have on CHATT, I have CHATT family from Barnard Castle. Father Thomas Born 1831 Newcastle, Wife Magret born 1838 Durham, Children, all born Barnard Castle, except for Thomas born Byers Green, Edward, Thomas(1860), Joseph(1862), Whitfield(1864), Ann(1865), **ROBERT CHATT (1869), Fredrick(1871), George(1873), Meggie(1879) Looks like you could be a generation further back. Have been following the line back from **ROBERT, who played for Aston Villa Football Club, and went on to be trainer for Newport and Manchester City.

I have many generations of Chatts going back to John Chatt 1680 married to Hannah. My Chatts apear to come from Northumberland England however I have lost the name in this area before 1680. I"m happy to share what information I have with anyone who is researching this name. I may have to use snail mail as I'm not very good at sending data bases over the internet. I am desperate for any Chatt history. I go back to William Stobbs who married Mary Chatt who was born in Allenheads,Allendale, Northumberland Co, Eng in 1800. It lists her father as Thomas Chatt and her mother as Elizabeth Carr.
Also, what is the Caetta/Chatt connection?
Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

I have my Chatt family back to Northumberland England in the early 1800s. I have come to a stand still as to where they came from before that point. I am slow about responding but willing to share information if I have any you can use. My Dad came from Tekamah, Nebraska and I know of related Chatts in Wisconsin.
