I have an Ann Cadby, mother Catherine McGrisby & father George Cadby. She was born at Sea, Sulawesi Tengah, Indonesia in 1822 who arrived in Australia on the John Barry in 1824. She married James Riddle on or about the 20th Feb 1987 in Sydney and went on to have 9 children. The arrival date seems to be the only thing that does not match. I have confirmation she arrived on the John Barry from the 'New South Wales, Australia, Registers of Convicts Applications to Marry' (James was a exconvict. I cannot confirm the arrival date however but I think they were in Australia before 1835 because her father remarrid 22 Jun 1835 to Charlotte Copus in Sydneyy after the death of Catherine in 1834.

Please let me know if you have any more info on Ann and her family. I ma related via George's brother Phillip Cadby.

Regards

Mark Cadby

Just happened to see your message. My wife Lynette Clare C. is also from the Phillip Cadby lineage and has a reasonably extensive tree. The tree continues on thru her mother's side (Dunn)
You mention in your notes that Anne Cadby was born at sea in 1822. She married James Riddle in (1987 sic) 1887 meaning she was 65 when she started having 9 children. Am i misunderstanding something here?
I am willing to share info if you are interested.

Hi Mark. The Cadbys arrived on the John Barry in 1826 (March to July), so it is difficult to accept that Ann was born "at sea" on this voyage to Oz - from where did this information come, as everybody seems to have followed it on Ancestry? You would know that George was a soldier and came to Sydney with his family, including stepson Robert McFarlane. His daughter, Ann, actually married James Riddle (Riddell) in 1837 when she is stated in "Convicts Permission to Marry" as being age 15, so 1822 is certainly the likely birth year. Cheers, Ray C
