I am reading posts from several years ago, so you may be up to date at this point. Paula Collins wrote in 2010, but I didn't read her post. Her grandmother and my great grandmother were sisters and two of the eight Cadogan sib's who came to Boston. My GGM Mary Ellen Cadogan, along with her brother John/Jack, were the first in about 1878. There is lots of info on Cornelius and Julia and all the children. I have made contact with a great granddaughter of Katherine, one of the two youngest who married a British man and moved to London. I'm trying research my Cadogans in Boston, i.e. their descendants. There must be thousands. Please write if you get his.

Hi Julie,
I was just in Ireland and did not have an opportunity to go to Derrycreigh but I was able to visit Ross Castle. According to some old family letters Julia Donoghue (O'Donoghue) Cadogan, married to Cornelius Cadogan (my great-grandfather) was a direct descendent of the clan chief O'Donoghues Mor (Ross) who built Ross Castle in the late 15th century. I have not been able to find any birth information about Julia, or her husband Cornelius.
Paula Collins and I are also related through the Cadogan brothers and sisters that came to the US.
Would you have any further information on Julia or Cornelius?
Look forward to hearing from you.
Pauline

Hi Neal,
I am assuming that your father was Neal Cadogan and he had a brother Jack and a sister Nancy. If so I might have some more information about your family history. Did your grandparents live on Sunset Rd. in Squantum? If so your grandfather Cornelius Cadogan was my mother's brother and your Dad was my first cousin.
I see that this posting is old. so I do hope you get this. I also hope you had a wonderful time in Ireland and while you were there you were able to visit Ross Castle in Kiillarney National Park. Your great, great grandfather was married to Julia O'Donohue she was a direct descendant of the clan Chief O'Donoghue Ross who built the castle. Funny/strange that your grandfather was also married to a woman named Julie or Julia. Growing up always called her Aunt Julie so Julia may have been her real name. Let met me know if you want more information.

Hi Pauline,
Yes, you have all the correct family info for Neal Jr's line. We are another generation, in fact, there's a Neal L. IV, and V now.
Neal III and I were once again in Ireland a couple of years back, but headed east to Kilkenny to take a look at my family's land. Will have to a plan trip once more to visit Ross Castle, imagining relatives in place! Killarney is such a beautiful county, just love the whole southwest. :)
Send along whatever you can share about 'the old ones', it's always interesting to hear, and to pass on to the next generation.
Regards, Janet Cadogan
