I'm looking for information about my great great grandfather. His name was Michael Cadagan. He came from Ireland (not sure of the county). I believe he was born about 1834. He died in 1890 in Boston Ma. He was married to Julia donahoe (from Co. Clare) and they had at least 2 children : Daniel (my great grandfather) and Mary. Thank you for any help.

I've made a little headway in my search for information. I now know that my gggrandfather Michael Cadagan most likely came from Co. Cork. His parents were named Daniel and Johanna. He married Julia Donahoe in Boston MASS (witnesses for the marriage were Denis Donahoe and Mary Mahoney). Michael and Julia had at least 3 children: Daniel, Mary and Johanna. Hoping to make a connection. Marie

Re: MICHAEL CADOGAN/CADAGAN/CADIGAN
Again, I've made some head way. Michael Cadagan b. circa 1834 came from Cape Clear Island, Co. Cork. His parents were (?)Daniel and Joanna. He married Julia Donahoe/Donahue, 1864, Boston Mass. Julia was also from Cape Clear Island. They had 3 children: Daniel, 1865, Mary circa 1869, Joanna circa 1874. I'm looking for Michaels' siblings and confirmation of his parents. Any information greatly appreciated. Marie

Re: MICHAEL CADOGAN/CADAGAN/CADIGAN
Michael Cadagan was the younger brother of my ancestor, Mary Cadigan, of Cape Clear Island, County Cork. Their parents were Daniel and Johanna (Hannah). Michael adopted the spelling "Cadagan" but "Cadigan" is more common for Boston siblings. There are many variants in the records. As far as I can tell, Daniel and Johanna had seven children: Mary A. (Mar 1830); Catharine (Jan 1832); Michael (Sep 1833); William (Oct 1835); John (Jan 1837); Ellen (Jan 1840); and Timothy T. (Jan 1846). Preceding dates are baptism dates, which were usually close to birth date due to high infant death rate at that time.

I am looking for Patrick and Mary Cadagan with a daughter named Bridget. Bridget immigrated to the U S in 1870 and settled in Boston. She married Andrew Minihan. If anyone has any information on them, I would love a reply. Thank you. Ann

What part of Ireland are your ancestors from?

I am not sure of the Cadagan line, but her husband Andrew Minihan was from the Cork area. I could assume that she was as well.
