Hello anyone and everyone
My maiden name is Caccavella. I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Our family name Caccavella could have been changed on entry to the USA. My great grandfather left his family in Italy (don't know the year and I am not sure where he ended up). No one ever saw or heard from him again. We believe that he started a new family somewhere in California. He left a wife Grazia Maria Giuseppina Polito and four children in Italy one being my grandfather my grandfather was born in 1901 and passed away in 1999. Any chance that someone has any information. Great grandfathers name was Michele Caccavella from Bovino, Foggia, Italy.
Any help whatsoever would be appreciated.

My name is Gina Caccavella, my father is Giovanni, my grandfather was Vittorio Caccavella. He had 7 children. My father was born in Foggia. My Grandfather moved his family to the US from Italy in the later 1950's. From NY they traveled to Chicago where my Grandmother still lives.

I e-mailed my father this post to see if he recognized any of the names. We may be somehow related. I hope for a response.

Hi Gina
Thanks for the reply. I hope your father has some information, it would be very helpful in tracking family members. You might be right we may be related in some way. Please keep me posted with anything you may receive from your father. It would be really appreciated. As far as we know my great grandfather landed in New York and was picked up by his brother in law by the surname of Polito. From there on we don't have anything else.
Hope to hear from you soon
Angela

Angela,

I did ask my dad and he directed me to one of my Aunts. My father was only 5 during the journey from Italy. He has a limited amount of infomation. I have asked my Aunt to speak with my Grandmother on this. If anyone knew, she would.
