My grandfather Ignatz SZALASNY had a sister named Mary (d 1915) who was married to Wojciech BZIBZIAK. They had a son (d) and a daughter also named Mary. After Wojciech's wife died, he married Anna and had 2 children with her Austin & Valentine or Valeri. I am looking for the family of the daughter Mary from his first marriage and of Valentine or Valerie. I know that Austin married late in life to Bertha (nee SIKORSKA), my mother's cousin and had no children. Wojciech was my father Walter SZALASNY's godfather.

My boyfriend Stephen has an account on here which I'm actually using at the moment and his last name is Bzibziak. He's from the buffalo area but his great grand parents were from poland. There are not many bzibziaks in the us and I think it's possible maybe there is some type of relation his dads name is John and from what his father said there was someone in the family named Andrew but his name was spelt the polish way. I never really ment anyone except his dad with that name. I am trying to start a family tree for his family. If you had any of those names in your family tree that would be great.

So far I have not been able to establish whether or not the Andreas (Andrew) is related to my great-uncle Wojciech (George or Albert) Bzibziak. Wojciech may possibly be an uncle to Andrew but I am not sure. Wojciech was married to my grandfather's sister, Mary Szalasny. After her death in 1912, he then married Anna Wilczynska. He had a daughter, Mary and a son, Walter from his first marriage. With Ann, he had another son named Austin and another daughter name Valentina or Valerie. Would Stephen's father know of them?

Have either of you taken the DNA test Ancestry has offered?

I believe the 3 of our families are connected...back to Poland - somewhere along the line.

The name variants of BZIBZIAK that I have found along my journey are:

Beezak
Bezac
Bezak
Bozibiak
Bzebziak
Bziak
Bzotzak

In the 1940 Census I found a Bziak with a transcription error listing the name as D instead of B... (Chicago, Ill - my grandmother's (Helen Theadosia Bzibziak [married to William Perry]) parents.

I am only related to Bzibziak thru my great-aunt Mary Szalasna (feminine version of Szalasny) to Wojciech Bzibziak. I too think there is a connection to the families in Buffalo & Chicago. My Szalasny family line is from the Brzeszcze Oswiecim area in Poland. So I am guessing that Wojciech was from that same area. But I have no idea if the other Bzibziak's are from that area, and to date, have not heard from them. Do you know where your family line is from in Poland?

Pozen is a province in Poland that was under German rule. Many Polish immigrants, fearing for the safety of their families probably did not want to disclose the exact location and simply stated Pozen. Here is a link that gives greater detail: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Province_of_Posen

he really doesn't have much information because his grand parents because they were straight from Poland spoke no English so he could only communicate with them through other family members. I noticed while researching though his grandfather was born in Galicia;Austria and his wife somewhere in Poland unfortunately I don't know the exact location. I have somewhat hit a dead end with my search. I feel that it is very possible that somehow there is a relation most of the Bzibziak's here in buffalo are cousins sometimes very distantly related.
