Delores, here is the link for the Hamburg Passenger List, 1850-1934, for Anton Bzibziak (right side about 10 down)in case you can read anything better than I can.

http://search.ancestry.com/iexec?htx=View&r=an&dbid=...

Here is something I gathered from familysearch.com

Marriage Index for Polish Parishes in Chicago through 1915 Results:
Name Spouse Date of Marriage Church Film # Item # Page Volume
Bzibziak, Anthony Lasota, Maria 6-21-1897 St. Joseph Church 1763437 1-9 85 1
Bzibziak, Bart Boryczka, Bronislawa 11-4-1903 Immaculate Conception Church 1578588 3 182 1

The first listing is for Anthony (same Anthony in link) my ggrandfather's marriage.

Have either of you used familysearch.org? I found Anthony's marriage cert (original) there.

Looking at the maps on Wiki of both cities mentioned, it doesn't seem they are too far apart in distance.

If I am not mistaken, Brzeszcze Oswiecim Poland was in the Galicia;Austria area, which was the southern part of Poland under Austrian rule. Here is a link for Brzeszze --- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brzeszcze, which also contains a map of Poland pinpointing Brzeszcze.

Hi again, D ~

I am not sure I understand why you shared the BRZESZCZE OSWIECIM POLAND information with me.

The info from the passenger list says Anton Bzibziak's residence is Manowice, Österreich. (Which I could not find doing a Google search...I get too many choices and the spellings varie). Although things have probably changed since 1896, I still find it daunting.

Any help you may be able to give me would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks
M

I have not yet gone beyond the USA in searching this lineage. I would like to, but I find it so daunting. Any help would be appreciated.

That is the file # for his death certificate on record in Chicago, Cook County, IL. I would try going to the LDS library to view films from Poland for the area you have found for your great-grandfather. Here is there website to find one near you: https://familysearch.org

I am very familiar with LDS, it was where genealogy searches were performed before the internet came along ~ it has been so long since I used that means, I forgot about their numbering system. thought you might own a copy of the certificate that you could share with me.

That file number is from Cook County Clerk's office, I do not have that certificate, but here is their e-mail address: http://www.cookcountygenealogy.com/default.aspx
