Hi,
Have you read the postings by tntgen123 posted in the last couple of days? They have much more information about that branch of the family than I have.
I am descended from James Bryan
Byrnes, the second son of George W. Byrnes and Sabra Anna
Hawkins. He was born
Dec. 16, 1847 in
Kankakee County, Ill, married Lucy
Lura Hammond on Apr 2, 1868 in Kankakee, they moved to
Kansas and had 3 boys and one girl. Their first son, George Earl
Byrnes was my grandfather, born in
Kansas, married Mary Ellen
Backus. They moved to the Northwest in 1899. They had 3 girls, my mother was their middle daughter, Ethel May
Byrnes, born in Coweeman County,
Washington in 1900.
George W. Byrnes, the father of Joel and James Bryan
Byrnes was a pioneer settler of
Kankakee County. He was the first (appointed sheriff) of the county. He was fairly well-to-do, for the time and had a large house in Limestone Township. I have a copy of an illustration of the house featured in the 1884
Atlas of
Kankakee County. I also have a couple of pictures of George W. Byrnes, one picture of his family, including my great-grandfather James Bryan and his brother Joel
Byrnes.
I have a photo of his son
Homer as a boy. I've had it always, but wasn't sure who it was until I got the information from Terry
Larson (tntgenealogy). He had a copy of the same photo. He also sent a couple of pictures of Joel and his wife Anna, and a picture of each of their sons, George and Duane.
If you'd like me to send you any of the photos, reply to my e-mail address:
