Surnames: Byrnes, Byrne, Kieran, Courtney
I have a Catherine Byrnes who married Laurence Kieran. They had five daughters of which I know only two names, Anna/Annie (name in religion: St. Patrick)born March 29, 1859 in Drumgonaeth (aka Drumgoan) Townland, Magheross Parish, County Monaghan. This is on the outskirts of Carrickmacross. Sister St. Patrick came to the USA circa 1876 and was a member of the Sister's of Saint Joseph in Saint Paul, Minnesota until her death in 1932. The other sister is Bernadette/Bernarda (the name was abbreviated in the church register as "Bern" followed by some superscripted squiggly lines. Bernadette had an illigitimate son named Peter James Courtney. Peter Courtney is listed in the baptismal register of Saint Peter & Saint Paul's Church located in Drumgoosat/Drumgossat(t) Townland, Magheracloone Parish, County Monaghan. This is the parish immediately south of Magheross. Peter was born a baptised on February 2, 1877 and his mother's residence is listed as Drumgoath (aka Drumgoan) Townland as mentioned above. Peter's godparents are listed as Antonius Kearn and Maria Flanigan. (Latinized names) and his mother's surname is mistakenly spelled as Kearn. Peter was brought to the USA in 1888 by a Catholic Sexton to live with his Aunt St. Patrick Kieran in Saint Paul, MN. Does anyone have information that ties Bernadette Kieran and her mother, Catherine Byrnes to the Owen byrne(s) family that came to Minnesota as mentioned in the very first message in this thread?
