Classification: Query
Surnames: Byrne, Brennan
I am researching the families of Thomas Byrne b.Abt 1820 and Margaret Brennan Byrne b.Abt 1820. They were from the parish of Leighlin in County Carlow. Their eight children were: John, Lawrence, Charles, Thomas, Terence, William, Ellen and Peter Vincent. William remained in Ireland while his siblings immigrated to Onondaga County, New York beginning in 1848. Lawrence was the first to leave, joining an uncle who immigrated to Onondaga County, New York at an earlier date. The uncle appears to be Patrick Brennan b.1821 County Carlow, d.1896 Pompey, Onondaga County, New York.
I have a great deal of information on the Brennans and Byrnes, plus other relatives who immigrated to Onondaga County, New York from County Carlow between 1848 and 1870. Most became successful farmers in their new homeland. The Brennans and Byrnes were recognized for strong faith and intelligence. Their children became teachers, farmers, priests, nuns, doctors, lawyers and business men.
Any information on these County Carlow families would be welcomed with gratitude. Thank you
Patty
