Hi Jean
I'm not sure what information you need. My grandmother was Jane Cook and Walter Cook (married to Amy Smith)was her eldest brother. Janet was an only child and travelled to America when she was 19 with her daughter having married Frank Byczek who was stationed at a U.S. Army medical unit nearby. Walter and Amy lived at 3 Temperance Cottages, Quidhampton at the time and Walter had 4 sisters and 2 brothers. All but the youngest married and had families. Please feel free to contact me by email as found in this thread, if you wish for further information.
Gill

Hi Gill and Scott
I have just come across this thread on Ancestry.com.
My mother was also Janet Doreen Cook's cousin, her mother (my grandmother) was Florence Annie Smith, sister of Agnes Amy Smith (who was Janet's mother). I would be so grateful if anyone has any info they can share with me - I have been doing my family tree for a long time and have been trying to follow this line without success so far.
Jean

Thank you so much for your posting!
I believe we are therefore related. Janet's mother Agnes Amy Cook (known as Amy) was my grandmother's sister (my grandmother's name was Florence).
I tried to contact you privately from here but unfortunately as an "unpaid" member of ancestry I am unable to use this facility. I am happy for you to contact me if you are able.
While cruising on the net during lunch hour, I stumbled on the ancestry.com message board. To my surprise, I found your message seeking info on the family of Frank Byczek, my husband Tom's father. According to my husband, Frank and Janet (now Janet Ross) had 6 surviving children: Kitty, Don, Tom, Danny, Frank Jr. and Patty. (One or two children died.) They and their families are scattered all over Michigan.

Please let me know if you do any sort of formal geneology search. I'm interested for my children's sake. Their ancestry has been fully traced on my side (both mother's and father's), but never on their dad's side.
Hi Scott! I hope we can swap info. Valenty was married twice. His second spouse was previously married also. They both had children with their 1st spouses and had two children (to the best of my knowledge) together. It was a huge family from what I've found. My father-in-law (Chester F. Petroski) is the oldest son of Valenty's second wife. Please feel free to contact me at sueski@innernet.net I look forward to hearing from you!

Hello there, I was just bored this evening and did a google search on the family name, and this came up, I am not sure if you are from the IR area, but that is my family, I dont know too much about them but I believe Valenty was my great-grandfather, his son would be Frank, and my dad Danny Byczek.

I am afraid that is all I know, but it sure is interesting, If I can help you in any way, dont hesitate to ask!!

-Scott

Valenty Byczek

I am trying to piece together the Byczek and Petroski familes from Iron River, MI. Valenty married Anna Wecinski Petroski after her husband was killed in a mining accident. Valenty was also married before. They had a combined total of 19 children
from their previou marriages and 2 together.
