DNA Testing for Biby, Bibee, Bybee

Can anyone tell me if there is any DNA testing going on to connect these three surnames (Biby, Bibee, Bybee) and possibly others? I have looked at the Family Tree DNA for the Beebe surname, etc. but don't think that is the correct one for my Biby line. My line goes back to Virgiia to about 1760. It is possible that my line descended from Thomas Biby who was born to John Biby and the Giles wives? A Thomas Biby was in Augusta Co. in the early 1800's and I believe he has roots in Augusta, Rockbrige and Albemarle counties. I have three Biby males that are willing to be tested. Two are cousins from their great grandfathers and the other is the father of one of the cousins. He is 95.
If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Also, if there is no testing going on with any of the DNA companies, perhaps we could start one.

Hi Holly,
Yes, I am very aware of this line, although haven't done much research beyond 1760. A recent YDNA test of 67 markers on my Biby line matched exactly to a descendant of the John Bybee (1735-1821) line, son of John Bybee born 1705. Now I know that I am barking up the right tree! Many have always thought that many of the Biby, Bybee, and Bibee lines are related and this certainly proves it. If more Bibys, Bybees, Bibees, Bibbys, Bibey, etc. were to be tested, we might be able to expand and sort out additional lines.

I believe my line descends from Thomas Bybee born 1760 to John Bybee and Jean Giles. I am still trying to find the complete papertrail that will connect the Thomas Biby born on 1760 to my line. I believe this Thomas is the father of my 3rd greatgrandfather below.

Micajah Biby (Son)
b. Bet. 1781-1790, Probably Albemarle Co., VA
d. Bef 1840, Probably Augusta Co., VA
m. 06 Mar 1818, Augusta Co.,VA, USA (marriage bond)
Spouse: Mary (Ballew) Buckner (widow)

Hi, I'm a bit late reading these posts, but have had a successful dna match with two persons on the Family Tree Familyfinder dna project. Both via the Bybee lineages. One was Susanna Evans m Buford Allee s/o David Allee and Charity Bybee.

I DO recommend the dna project!

I have a documented ancestry from David Allee and Charity Bybee, I have DNA tested through the lab 23andme and have a positive connection to a descendant of David Allee and Charity Bybee's daughter Jerusha, also through Charity's sister. I hope more Bybee's and Allee's will do the DNA tests and we can verify more connections, my paternal haplogroup is E1a which should follow down the generations of male Allee's that descend from David's father Nicholas. Before Nicholas I think documentation gets a little foggy. Jim.

I am a Davidson, but I have some "Y chromosome DNA matches" to the Bybee/Bibee/Biby surname (at FTDNA). The best of those matches (at the 37 marker level) shows about a 97% chance that the Bibee donor and I share a common male ancestor within the last 16 generations. My haplogroup is "I1." Can the various members of the Bybee/Bibee/Biby family with that specific haplogroup be "connected" to a "common ancestor?"

My Davidson family "traces back" to James City Co., VA by at least 1682 (and back to Holland before that), and I have six other Davidson men who are all "DNA matches" to me (plus some Bishops, some Pughs and the referenced Bibee/Bybee/Biby family). I would assume that "adoptions" and/or some "out-of-wedlock births" account for the referenced "biological connections" between these different surnames. My Davidson family was eventually in MANY counties throughout VA in the 1700s, and some "branches" ultimately moved to other states. Comments/input/questions? Thanks.

I should have also mentioned that my Davidson family....just like the Bibee/Bybee/Biby family, apparently....also married into both the Webb family and the Giles family in VA. An Elizabeth Davidson in my overall family (probably born circa-1740s/1750s; she was a daughter of Edward Davidson) married a Merry Webb in Henry Co., VA, and a David Davidson in my overall family (born circa-1710/1715; probably a brother of the above-mentioned Edward Davidson) married a Mary Giles (she was apparently out of Perrin Giles) in VA.

The above Edward Davidson moved from Buckingham Co., VA to Bedford/Campbell Co., VA around 1780 or so, and the David Davidson who was on the 1810 Campbell Co., VA census COULD have been one of Edward's close relatives (and MAYBE that David Davidson in Campbell Co., VA in 1810 was a son of Edward's likely brother David Davidson....who had married Mary Giles....but no proof at this time). I note that a Mr. Biby was only a couple of "census pages away" from that David Davidson on that same 1810 Campbell Co., VA census.
