At the top of this page there is a DNA tab. This is the link: http://dna.ancestry.com/
I am signed up under my name. You have a login with ancestry. If your husband does not, he can sign up for a login and password for no charge. He can log on at the DNA tab and they will notify him. They have a back log right now, I think, so there are no details until they email you. Last time I saw the details, it involved a cotton swab in the mouth and then into an envelope.

He is now on the list to be tested. He must be descended from Jupiter Byassee. His great grandfather was Wm. Henry Byassee b 1840 in Hickman Co Ky. I cannot find the link to Jupiter Byassee, but Wm. Henry with 1840 DOB does not fit with any of John Henry (Jack)Byassee's children. I find this in the Ballard Co Ky 1880 census. I know it is correct because of the Flein (actually Flemming, or Flem)age 19, child who is listed. The John W, age 17, is actually John James Byassee, my husband's grandfather. My husband remembers Flem Byassee and knows he and John James were brothers. If you have any info on this missing link between Jupiter and Wm. Henry I would like to know.

I have only heard of Jupiter Byassee and that he and John were supposed to be brothers. Jupter has been elusive. I will see what else I can find on what you have here!

A little addl info I have found. I believe Wm Henry Byassee was married first to Sarah Master(s)and first four children-Flemming, John J, Mary Elizabeth and Franklin (Frank or maybe Benjamin Franklin). I believe he then married Genie A. and 3 more children, Wm T, Ollie L and Jennie E. A dob for Sarah is b 1845, d 1873. Some scrap I found shows Wm. Henry's parents as "Byassee" and "Dau Rudd". The 1880 Ballard Co Ky census shows both his parents as born in Va.

From what I know of the family history first hand, it is very possible that Jupiter settled in the area which is now Ballard County and John Henry settled a little farther south. That has always been the family oral history and I know the Byassees had land in the Ballard Co area. Ballard County would have been part of McCracken Co Ky in the 1840s and I believe Carlisle Co was carved out of Hickman Co and possibly part of the Ballard area a little later.

Info I have shows Wm. Henry born in Hickman Co, married in Carlisle Co and died in Ballard Co.

Also, how could I learn who posted the Byassee family pictures, the one that shows the John James Byassee family seated with several children. I have the same picture.

Thanks for all this.

Are the pictures posted on Ancestry?

The pictures are posted on Ancestry, identified as John J Byassee, and show several faces separately, I think JohnJ., Annie and Sarah.
