Hi Jane,
My Grandmother is Winifred Doreen Thredgold who I think is your mother's sister. Win died when my father and his brother were young and my Grandfather remarried a woman by the name of Greta Longford.
Did your Grandparents live at Allenby Gardens? I have quite clear memories of visiting Auntie Linda and Uncle Col with Grandma and Grandpa as a young girl.
My father has only quite recently started talking in any depth about his family and a few things are starting to make sense. Really he has little knowledge of his family and has been quite surprised at what we have managed to discover. Always the sceptic!
I am expecting some information from Nagambie in the next few days re the Hunters.
We have only just started looking at the records held at the Public Records Office, Margarets story could take some work.
Gordon McKay was an early overseer at Bungaree and many of the Scots who arrived in SA following the clearances in Scotland came to Clare and surrounds. Bungaree records go for miles in the State Library archives, it may be interesting to look at the records.
You have already put in a lot of time and we have only been looking for a couple as yet.

Cheers
Prue and Michael

Hi Prue
So you are Donald Ward's daughter I guess. Win was my Mum's auntie. Sister to my Grandmother Linda Mabel Gill. I used to see Uncle Ozzie all the time at Nanna Gill's at Allenby Gardens. Mum (Tasma) loved Aunty Win the best of all the aunts and because Linda was ill quite a bit of her life Mum would spend time staying with Win and Oswald from time to time until of course cancer claimed Win's life. Mum also used to speak about Ozzie's garden. I lost track of Donald and Mum didn't know where he lived. Mum died in 2011 just before Christmas. I see Peter Ward about every 5 years as we have a mutual friend. I saw a lot of Win's sisters especially Phyllis and Doris who were not a lot older than my Mum, Tasma. Did the aunts used to call Greta "Greet" as I remember meeting an auntie "Greet" but I cannot remember if she was Oswald's wife or the other side of my family. I am so glad to have another close relative doing the looking for poor Margaret as I feel she has slipped off this earth with hardly a trace despite having given birth to so many children. I have never known Donald's wife or the names of his children. Could you give me the details please. My personal email is stillwell@ozemail.com.au if you would like to email directly. I have attached (I hope it works) a photo which is not that clear but it is Olive, John William, Win (on right at back) and Phyl. If it doesn't work send me an email and I will attach it to my reply. Do you have Win's wedding photo? I would love to meet your Dad to discuss the family. Bye for now, Jane
