Re: Lots of Canadian "Byard' Information--NOVA SCOTIA, Canada
I know that my knowledge of Canadian geography is less than minimal, but what does the "NS" stand for in Truro, NS?

Re: Lots of Canadian "Byard' Information--NOVA SCOTIA, Canada
I'm sorry. I didn't see "the elephant in the room". I didn't see the words Nova Scotia at the top of the listing until after I had sent the previous message. Do you know where your Byard ancestors came from before arriving in Nova Scotia?

Re: Lots of Canadian "Byard' Information--NOVA SCOTIA, Canada
We beleive they came from England and then many descendents moved to the USA. Starting with Samuel Byard, we have 8 generations in Canada,

Yes, Truro, Nova Scotia is where the Byard clan lived. Could you be related? Did you know there were Byards in Canada?

Re: Lots of Canadian "Byard' Information--NOVA SCOTIA, Canada
I didn't know that there were Byards in Canada. There is, I believe, a Samuel Byard in my line someplace, but it was my understanding they came from England/Irleland or Scotland directly to the "Colonies" (i.e. what became the U.S.). I know that Samuel was a popular name for men during that time period, so we may be speaking about 2 or more different families.

Re: Lots of Canadian "Byard' Information--NOVA SCOTIA, Canada
Hi Marlene, This is quite interesting. I've got New Jersey Byard's marrying Canadians in my tree but don't know much more than that. My great-great grandfather's name was John Byard from Monmouth, NJ. He left there and went to Racine Wisconsin sometime post-1830 and pre-1860. While there, he married Euphemia McKellar from Canada, but her heritage is Scottish. Their children were David Byard (my great-grandfather) and his sister Lydia. Perhaps your NJ connections can shed some light on ol' John and his kin for me. I know there are a lot of Byard's there but I havent found out too much about them. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Re: Lots of Canadian "Byard' Information--NOVA SCOTIA, Canada
Hello. My name is Francine Hon and John W. Byard is my 2nd great grandfather (born in 1830 in Monmouth, New Jersey). My great grandfather is David Byard born in 1864 in Racine, Wisconsin. My grandmother is Mabel Elizabeth Byard, born in 1896 in Kansas City, Missouri. Mabel married Frank B. Hon in 1916 in Kansas City, Missouri. My father's name is Frank Hon, Jr.. I can only trace John W. back to Monmouth, New Jersey, too. Today is the first time that I have looked on the message board and found all of the information about John and the Nova Scotia connection. I would appreciate it if you would reply. I am curious as to how we are related. Thank you for your response.
