Classification: Query
Surnames: Butcher Boucher Wheeler Nash Jackson Hukill Bouldin
Trying to identify a Mr. and Mrs. Butcher / Boucher in New Castle Co., Del. probably by 1670. He died circa 1680 and Mrs. Butcher remar. Samuel Wheeler. Samuel died 1694-Kent Co., Md. By 1686 Samuel had remar. Mrs. Ann (______) Blunt Nash, widow of Richard Nash (d. 1680-Kent Co., Md.), previously mar. to Richard Blunt (Blount) (d. 1669-Kent Co). Samuel Wheeler's will mentions a dau. Susannah (probably dau. of Mrs. Butcher as Samuel had no children by Ann, assuming there wasn't a wife before Mrs. Butcher. Samuel's will refers to John Butcher, Thomas Butcher and Robert Blunt (Ann's son) each as "son-in-law". In that period son-in-law meant step-son. Other researchers have understandably but mistakenly thought Samuel had 3 daus. mar. to these men. He also mentions Mary Bouldin --probably Thomasin Mary Nash, Ann's dau., who mar. Wm. Bouldin in 1692, and a Mary "alias Ann" Jackson, probably a dau. of Mrs. Butcher.
Samuel was NOT mar. to Ruth (Hill) Nash, widow of Richard Nash's brother Alexander (d. 1681-kent Co.) which is stated on several websites. Alexander made his will in Oct. 1676 and doesn't even mention a wife so Ruth was dead by then.

Children of Mr. and Mrs. Butcher:

1) John b. circa 1675, mar. _______; died 1746-St. Georges, New Castle Co. Children: Thomas mar. Hannah Griffith, died after 1774; Eleanor mar. Henry Hukill of Back Creek, Cecil Co., Md. 1730; Michael d. St. Georges 1750-single and childless. Probably father of Elizabeth Boucher / Butcher of White Clay Hundred in northern New Castle Co. who mar. Nicholas Wanford 1715.

2) Thomas b. circa 1675, mar. Rachel ______ by 1718; lived "near the Forrest on Duck Creek, New Castle Co." 1718. Children ?

3) Michael b. circa 1680, mar. 1) ?, had son John who mar. Jane _____ and died 1774-St. Georges, childless; mar. 2)c. 1731 Mrs. Magdalena (Hanson) Truax, widow of Cornelius Truax--no children by Magdalena; died 1757-St. Georges.

4. Probably Mary Ann , mar. a Jackson by 1693.
