Plattsburgh — Mrs. Gertrude Mae (Pelkey) Buskey, 86, of Mildred Boulevard and formerly of Mooers, went to her resting place Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh, where she was a resident for a year and a half.
She was born in Sciota on Oct. 19, 1915, daughter of the late William and Ethel (Guyette) Pelkey.
She lived married life in Mooers with her husband, Raymond H. Buskey since 1940.
She was a member of the Rosary Alter Society of St. Joseph’s Church in Mooers.
She was a lifelong house wife, gardener, seamstress, knitter, crochet, canner, baker and cook. Gertrude worked many odd jobs.
She had a great love for cats and yellow roses. She was very much loved by her family and she loved them back with her big heart.
She is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandra Lee and John Gooley of Milford, Ohio, and Dorothy and Raymond Blow of Mooers Forks; two sons and there companions, Rowlyn H. Buskey and Kathryn Orr of Mooers and Donald Pelkey and Genette Mattot of Sciota; one sister, Thelma (Pelkey) Buskey of Sciota; a sister-in-law, Dorothy LaFave of Altona; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Raymond; two sons, Ronald Buskey and Roger Buskey; a daughter, Elizabeth B. Laplante; brothers, Normand, Maurice "Bum" and Maynard; and a sister, June.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Altona. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Church in Mooers. Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the spring of 2002.
In Lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer Association.
