I am the great-grandaughter of Wiley Samuel Laughter (1850-1895) and Sarah Jane Gilbert (1852-1919). There is some disagreement as to who his parents were. Most genealogies list him as son of John Hicks Laughter and Mary Ann Dimsdale. Other information seems to indicated he may have been one of several illegitimate children of Mary A. Laughter, daughter of Wiley Laughter (1775-1846) and Anne Shelton (1776-after 1860). Any documented information greatly appreciated.
