Sarah Ann BUSEY (BUSSEY/BUSY) & John L. HUBBARD, KY, 1800s

Searching for information on the ethnic heritage of Sarah Ann “Sallie” or “Sally” BUSY/BUSEY or possibly BUSSEY, born about 1836 in Taylor Co, KY to determine if she, was in fact, of Cherokee descent. Sally married John L. HUBBARD who was born 30 Jun 1832 in Taylor Co, KY. John & Sally had a daughter Nannie Garland HUBBARD who is of special interest, as she is the ancestor of a family who is attempting to prove (or disprove) that Sally and her daughter Nannie are Cherokee Indians. Nannie married Dr, John Charles BABB 12 Feb 1879, Smith Co, KS and died in Enid, Oklahoma. It is family lore that the HUBBARDs were successful tobacco farmers in Kentucky, and were moved by the U. S. Government to Oklahoma. Attached is a brief 2 generation HUBBARD Family History. If any of these names, dates and places are familiar, or if you know how one goes about proving Cherokee heritage, your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Dr. Dixon G.
My paternal grandfather, Franchiale 'Frank' Busey was born 22SEP1860 in Urbana, Champaign, IL. They moved to Nebraska and then to Yakima, WA. Years ago my dad wrote Busey Bank and asked if there was connection. Either they didn't reply or said 'No way!', I forget which. My great=grandfather, Isaac B. Busey and wife Nancey E. Tolle Busey, born 1837 in Urbana, moved to Yakima with grandpa. They all died in Yakima. Don't know if this is of any help. I have never traced back past Isaac.

In the 1850 New Market, Frederick, MD census a Charity Busey age 63 is in a household with these Perkins children: Nicholas, Ann, Missouri, Mary Jane and a gentleman named Hezekiah Bailey. I am researching the Perkins children. Has any one got info on what relation Ms Busey is to the Perkins children? Any help would be wonderful

Charles & Elenor (Montgomery) Busey in York Co, PA

I've collected some source records at <http://homepage.mac.com/ntaber/Genealogy/> that start with Charles BUSEY and his wife Elenor MONTGOMERY, who appear in York County, Pennsylvania, by the late 1820's, giving their place of birth as Maryland. Charles, a cooper, was born about Oct 1800, Elenor was born 25 Sep 1797. He is later found in German-speaking neighborhoods of York, while she is found in Irish sections. There is contradictory evidence about whether they could read and write, though English appears to be their native language.
Do you have BUSEY or MONTGOMERY lines with vanishing offspring or siblings that might fit these two? If so, please correspond with me at the e-mail address provided in my source records pages.

Busey's In CT and RI

So this is where the cousins hang out! Lots of good information posted here. I am descended from Paul1 thru Charles, Samuel, Mathew (NC KY), Samuel Wales (Ky, IN, IL), Mathew Daniel, etc. in Champaign.

I was recently surprised to find a Titus Busey in Connecticut and Nicholas Busey in Rhode Island in the 1790 census. Does anyone have any knowledge of these Busey's? Pam, anyone on your side head up this way? Were they descendents of Paul 1 or did they come here separately?

Since this Message Board is so full of relatives, I guess I will join Ancestry.com. Frankly, I've been a bit put off by their commercialism and have resisted joining. I'd be happy to exchange information with other Busey family researchers.
