My great grandmother gave birth to my Grandfather at the coal mine on April 6th, 1904; my grandfather name, Frank Bury. His father was listed as "A.Bury". The ancestry is French and am looking for French Bury coal miners from around that region.

Lori Minds

I'm looking for any information regarding William Bury b. abt 1842 in Wicklow, Ireland and his wife Helen Byrne b. abt 1841 in Wicklow also. They had 10 children, William (my g/grandfather), Elizabeth, John, Bridget, Simon, Margaret, Christopher, Patrick, Elizabeth and John. At some point around this time the spelling of Bury was changed to Burey. Any info relating to any of the above will be gratefully received.

Many American Burys were Buri in Baden-Württemberg

I tracked by grandfather Hubert Bury of Pennsylvania back to an 1857 birth in Baden-Württemberg, Germany and was very surprised in the course of my research to discover that many Bury families in the United States originated from the Buri families in Baden. The majority born in Germany in the 1800's eventually emigrated from 1850 to 1890 and I have compiled a listing at least 50 immigrant families who went to many different US States, all going back to Buri ancestors in the 1600's. The surname in the 1700's in German church records is usually Burri, in the early 1800's it is becomes Buri, and by the 1850's it most often appears as Bury. In America almost all use the Bury spelling on arrival. All came through the port of New York but dispersed to many different states. The area near Donaueschingen, Germany is a hotbed for Bury ancestors in the 1600-1800's, and since it is located only 15 miles north of Switzerland, these lines also tie into the Swiss Buri's in Schaffhausen. Most of the German Buri's are Catholics, although my grandfather converted to Protestant when he met his Lutheran bride in Switzerland.

James Bury

Richard Bury b.1815 and Jane Coates Bury b.1817 in Ireland married 1839 had 4 children
Emily b.1840, James b.1842, George b.1848 and Florence b.1856 (USA). They came to America in 1851 and settled in Tippacanoe County near Battleground, Indiana Richard died in 1857 and Jane 1880. In 1866 the family moved to Iroquois County, near Milford, Illinois. Richard and Jane are Buried at Battleground Indiana. All these people are accounted for except James, we have lost James! The cenius report 1870 of Iroquois County Illinois had James head of the Household this is the last known record of James except one little remark froman old ledger now lost James left for St. Louis today.
Can anyone help us so we can put and end to this mystery and finish this end of the family tree! Thank You Very Much in advance.
Don Bury

George Bury of Indiana, Cincinnati OH and possibly California

I am searching for information on George Bury born in Indiana ca. 1867. He was in Cincinnati in 1880 and 1910 and possibly moved to California later.

His mother was Margaret "Maggie" Margaretha??? b. ca. 1835.

George is not my direct line but his mother married as third wife to my GG Grandfather. My G Grandfather had nothing to do with his father and we know very little about this line. I believe the family was Catholic and that is what caused the rift. But, according to other family members, Margaret and son George, along with the three children born to this marriage, were abandoned by her 2nd? husband (my GG) when she became ill. The oldest boy was in the military in 1900 and the youngest two were in a protectory for boys. I have not located George or his mother. The two youngest boys were living w/ George Bury, their step-brother in 1910.

Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?
George Emmanuel Bury - born 1887 - died 1961

Does anyone know anything about George Emmanuel Bury? He married Gladys Satchell at Nottingham in 1912. Their children were - Gladys born 1911 - Arthur born 1913 - Jack born 1915 - Albert born 1917 - Joan born 1920. G.E. Bury lived most of his life in Lancashire - Accrington, where his children were born, & towards the end of his life he was living at 5 Denison Road, Victoria Park, Manchester, England. He described himself as a Music Hall Artiste when he married in 1912. Later he became a Chiropodist. I don't know where he worked as a Chiropodist. He departed the matrimonial home & family about 1921. Was never divorced. His wife Gladys died in 1957, & he then married his partner Kate Taylor (also known as Kate Bury) in 1959. His immediate family knew nothing about him after he left in 1921. As he was my grandfather I would like to find out what I can about him, so any information anyone can give me would be much appreciated. My postal address is - 27 Tawa Street, Oneroa, Waiheke Island, New Zealand. Telephone number 09 372 6374.

Bury/Burie of Charleston SC

I'm looking for information on the Burie's of Charleston. Daniel Burie married we believe a Duncan, thier daughter Susannah married John Pundt. I believe Daniel to be either the son of Richard Burie or John Bury and Susannah Robert who married in 1779. Daniel also had Elizabeth Ann and Daniel Jr that I can find so far.

This name is pronounced like Jury. My grandmother could recite her family tree as a child does a nursery rhyme and she always said it like fury, not cherry. Unfortunately, while she was alive I paid attention, just not quite well enough to remember it all now!
