Susan Diane Fenn (nee Walker), age 57, of Crown Point, IN was born on July 13, 1953 in Chicago Heights, Cook County, IL passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 as a result of injuries caused by an automobile accident in Crown Point, IN.
Susan is survived by her husband: Nicholas "Nick" Fenn; daughters: Marisa K. and Katie E. Fenn, son: Alexander "Alex" Fenn all of Crown Point, father: Walter W. Walker of Crown Point, mother: Beverly (nee Schmoldt) (Merle) Thornton of Rockford, IL; siblings: Kathryn L. (nee Walker) (Richard) Urban-Goodwin of Salem, AR, David (Karen) Walker of Alliance, OH, Lawrence "Larry" Walker of Antioch, IL, Anthony "Tony" Thornton of Rockford, IL. Survivors also include her mother-in-law: Norma (nee James) Fenn, sister-in-law: Lorraine (nee Fenn) (Graham) Ross all of New Zealand and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents: George K. Walker (1981), Helen (nee O'Neal) Walker (1999) and maternal grandmother: Clarabelle (nee Bee) Schmoldt-Builte (1989).
Susan was a long-time resident of Park Forest, Il and later Matteson, IL before moving to Crown Point in 2000. She attended Blackhawk Elementary School in Park Forest, IL, O.W. Huth Jr. High School in Matteson, IL. Susan was a graduate of Rich Central High School in Olympia Fields, IL and Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, IA. She met and married her husband, Nick, on September 27, 1987 in Bermuda.
Her many community activities include prior PTO President of the Solon Robinson Elementary School, local animal shelter volunteer, school room mother, manager of the Three Lions Soccer Club, fund raising for schools and soccer teams. She enjoyed reading, genealogy and maintaining relationships with family and friends, frequently being the force that brought others together. She was a "mom" to many. A quote that she lived by was "It's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years!"
A statement issued by her husband: " Susan, loving mother, loving wife, I will miss you with all my heart. Our children and I will always love you and never forget you. You protected them always. Your loving husband, Nick. "
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre (NOTE: NEW LOCATION-2 blocks east of Broadway) at 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN, with Pastor John Leitzel officiating.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Susan D. Fenn's name to the United Soccer Club.
