Hi Juliet, my husband is from the Stogursey Burland family and we were peddled the same story about having been related to the Steyning Burlands. From all my research so far I cannot find any connection. Certainly on ancestry you'll find lots of info about your family. Also the Somerset Heritage centre just outside Taunton will be a great help. Just turn up with some ID and they'll give you a reader's card and then you're off.
