Burket (Burkert) Family Tragedy as Reported in Local News: The hand of affliction has been resting heavily in the household of Al Burket during the past few weeks. Within seven week's time, three children were taken by death, the last two dying only three days apart. Freddie, was born October 14, 1885, died April 30, 1889, aged 3 years, 6 months, and 16 days. He was buried in the Lutheran cemetery on last Thursday. Carlton Ray was born July 1, 1882, died May 3, 1889, aged 6 years, 10 months, and 2 days. He was buried by the side of his little brother and sister. Rev. Myers officiated on both occasions. . Thus three little mounds of fresh earth may be seen side by side which reminds us that the cruel monster death, with ruthless hand has snatched from the same stalk three little buds to be unfolded and blossom in another world. This family can truthfully say, one affliction doth upon the heels of another tread. Mrs. B. but a few months ago, fell from a chair and broke her arm. This had scarcely healed, when the baby, an only daughter, sickened and died, but this trouble was only followed by another. The remaining three little ones took down with the measles. They had not fully recovered from this malady when two were again taken with catarrhal faver, lingered two weeks and both died. In the midst of all this affliction the father of Mrs. B. was accidently killed and buried. Such a recital cannot fail but to awaken the sympathies of the hardest heart.
