Hello ,

Looking for the BURKE family ! They are so hard to track!!! I have only been able to go as far back as my GG grandfather!

The family is from the Harlan County area (Dayhoit, Wilhoit)and are as follows:

My grandmother: Charlotte Burke was born in Harlan 1926, married Billy Helton in 1942. Charlotte's parents were: Alton Burke B/1904, D/1989 & Minnie Yeary B/1909, D/ @1999, married in 1922. Alton's parents were Elijah "Lige" Burke & Mrs. Bettie Dowell.

Now here's the fun part: Elijah & Bettie were married 9-7-1895 in Rockcastle, KY. Bettie was a widow at the time and age 21, Elijah age 22. But someone sent me an email saying that in 1920 Wilhoit, Harlan Co., KY. Census.... Elijah was 37 & Bettie was 38??? Now this would put Elijah's b-day at 1873 or 1883?? and Bettie's at 1874 or 1882???? Then someone sent me an email saying that Bettie died in 1951 @ 74, so this gives a b/of 1877??

I have been unable to find any further info on Elijah & Bettie or the fact of who Elijah's parents were!!!

And what about Alton & Minnie?? Well, I haven't had a chance to find them in the 1930 census yet! :(

I tell ya, this research makes my head spin!! :)

If anyone could in anyway help me break down these walls I would be greatly appreciative!!
