Clifford P. Burk, 91, of Cabot, formerly Gibsonia,
died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011.
Born May 29, 1920, in Gibsonia,
he was the son of the late Frank and Anna Belle (Schweppe) Burk; also preceded by one grandson, the late Andrew James Duggan; six brothers, the late Edward, Frank, Elmer, Clyde, Kenneth and John Burk; and three sisters, the late Gertrude D. Hagen, Ruth N. Burk and Ida Irene Davis. Clifford was the beloved husband for 60 years of Mary V. (Zehner) Burk, whom he married Oct. 6, 1951; loving father of Kathleen Ann Charlton, of Freedom, and Mary Elizabeth Duggan, of Monroeville; also survived by six grandchildren, Evan and Marissa Charlton and David, Robert, Emily and Brian Duggan. A World War II Army veteran, Clifford landed on Utah Beach during the June 6, 1944, D-Day Invasion. He was a longtime and proud member of VFW Post 7505, Mars, American Legion Post 161, Wexford, National 4th Infantry Division Association and AARP Chapter 595, North Hills. The Burk family will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME LTD., 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gibsonia, with Pastor Joel A. Benson officiating. Please meet at the church.
