My Gr-Grandmother was Wilhemina Burgwhat Matter. Her and my Gr-Grandfather, John Matter, lived in Bengal Twp, MI. I have two pictures of them.

I grew up in Bengal Twp, St Johns, MI. My Great-Grandmother's Father was John Burgwhat. He was married to Frederika Biedersteadt. I received a photo today saying it's John and Anna Matter, but it looks just like the photo I was sent of John and Frederika Burgwhat. My Great-Grandmother's name was Wilhelminia (Minnie). She married John Matter and they resided in Bengal Twp all their lives.
My maiden name was Mary Matter. I live in FL now and have been working on genealogy for the last yr.

I, too, am trying to find into. John and Frederika Burgwhat of Bengal Twp, were my great-grandmother's parents. Her name was Wilhelminia (Minnie) Burgwhat. She married my great-grandfather, John Matter. I grew up in Bengal Twp, St Johns, MI. I now live in FL. I got a picture today that says it's Jacob and Anna Matter, but it looks just like another picture that I was told was John and Frederika Burgwhat. The picture came from my great-aunt, Mary Matter's stepson and it's written on the back John and Anna Matter, which would be Mary's parents.

I'm looking for information about John Burgwhat's grandparents. I believe the John Burgwhat mentioned here is the sister of my great grandmother Mary (Marie) Burwhat, who was born 9/1/1870. She married Theodor Marten. According to our information, John & Mary had 2 additional sisters (Fredericka & Wilhelmina) and a brother (Charles). We have their father as John Carol Burgwhat, who married a Frederika ?. Any information anyone might have on John Carl & Frederika would be appreciated.

My Mother-in-law, Margaret, was born in May 1908 at Lansing, Michigan. Her Father was a John Burgwhat and her Mother was Anna Schultz. Margaret currently lives alone at her home in Florida. Margaret had a younger Brother, Louis, whose Father was also John Burgwhat. Margaret's Father was a good businessman who had a farm and farm machinery store. However, he was very stern and showed little affection for the family. Thus, Anna divorced him and moved away with the two children. The children changed their last name to Burkwhat. John Burgwhat subsequently remarried, but Margaret visited with him from time to time. Margaret is quite lucid, and could answer questions that might have a genealogical bearing.

We have a John Burgwhat in our family, brother to Mary, Charles, Minnie & Fredericka. Their father was John Carl Burgwhat, born 1827, died 6/11/1902, married to Frederika, born 1831.

I noticed your query was one year old, so I am curious if you have any additional information since that time.
