Susan,
A long time to wait for a reply but I have a connection to the Buer family from London. The name I believe is of German origin, however we have traced the London family back to an ancestor Joseph Buer b. 1706 from Great Parndon in Essex. His eldest son moved to London and became a butcher (there followed at least 3 generations of butchers), however there must have been money in meat, because William ended his life quite wealthy and styled as a "Gentleman" with voting rights in Westminster.
If you are still there and still want to know something about the family, please make contact.
Regards
Max
