Buat or du Buat in YOUR family tree?

I asked that this board be created because My last name is Buatte, and in my genealogical research, I have found that the name came from du Buat as far back as 16th Century France (at least, that's as far as I've gone yet...). The name, being French in a non French-speaking part of the world, has undergone several metamorphoses, including du Buat, Buyat, Buiat, Buat, and finally, Buatte. (I've even found a Civil War pension record for a Briatte, which is undoubtedly another variation.)

I have posted some info about my family in the "Buatte" surname message board, since that is my own name.

Please, if you have any relatives that have any of these variations of Buat, DO share with others and myself!

Thanks,
Raegan Buatte

reagan hi. my 3rd gr g'pa Athanase Caron married Jeanette Buatte (have seen as Buade) on Jan 19th 1824 most likely Ste. Genevieve as all their kids are born there (I have all their names & birth dates, I'm adding their spouses as I find them). She is the dau. of Antoine Buat & Marie-Louise Thomure. I found another dau. born to them, Marie-Louise Buat, who marries Louis Govreau (Govro) on Apr 28th 1817. This is all I have on this line so I need everything. Are any of these names familiar to you? cindy P.S. How do you pronounce your name?

I am working on the ancestors of Julie Buate who married Joseph Boyer on 19 Feb. 1819. She was also a daughter of Antoine Buat and Marie Louise Thomure.

Do you have the parents of this Antoine Buat?
