Re: Annie Donnelly message
My name is Michael Brusa, one of three siblings to Robert Brusa which you mentioned in your note. I'm not sure if I can be much help but, I will give it a try.

The Brusa Granite Company, Northfield, Vt., is composed
of John Brusa, Harry h. Brusa, Peter Brusa, and Andrew Bemas-
coni, all natives of Varese, Lombardy, Italy. John was born in
1866, Peter in 1872, Harry in 1890, and Andrew Bemasconi in 1869.
They are practical carvers and statue cutters, having learned their
profession in Italy. They established their business in 1892, and
operate a modern plant 400x50 feet in dimension, fully equipped
with all the modern machinery, where they give employment to
about 8q, m^n.
Hi Brusa's
My name is Annie Donnelly.
I'm one of the genealogists in my family. Harry Sr's wife (Florence Plunkett)'s younger brother Matthew was married to my great grand aunt Martha Donnelly. To make it more confusing, Harry Brusa Jr. is my great grand aunt's husband's grand nephew. That's pretty far fetched but I'm just trying to gain as much information as possible to add to my genealogical records.
I wasn't able to find any kids in the records for Robert Brusa or Harry Jr. but clearly I'm writing to some of them! Would you all be able to help me complete that side of the tree?
You mentioned that Harry Sr. founded the granite company with John and Peter. Is Peter John's brother (Harry's uncle)? If I'm following this accurately, Harry sr had two younger sisters (Julena and Josephine) and a younger brother (James).
I hope Muriel is still alive and well, and best wishes to all you very very very distant relatives.
Annie
I remember Harry in Northfield. It is unusual that Giovanni was my grandfather's name, from Viggui Italy, who came to Maine to work in the quarries there. I don't think that there is any relationship--Giovanni was a popular name. I continue to search for my family in Italy.

Cesare Brusa

My grandmother's first husband was Cesare Brusa from Italy. They were married in 1918 when my grandmother was 20 and Cesare was 40 years old. They were married in Waterbury, Vermont and had 2 sons. Cesare was in the monument business after his arrival in Vermont in 1918 from Italy. The story that was handed down in the family is that he was a Roman Catholic Priest in Italy during his early years.
He was only married to my grandmother for
2-3 years when he died at the age of 42 from Pulmonary Tuberculosis and he is buried in Waterbury, Vermont. My grandmother, Anna Peduzzi, remarried and my mother was born later. I am still close to my Brusa cousins in the Worcester, MA area, they are the grandchildren of Cesare.

If you would like more information you can contact me at wjspain@mediaone.net

Regards,

Jim Spain

Ferma and Emilio Brusa

My grandmother's(Mary Vaughn Joiner) second husband was Emilio Brusa, born 9/14/1887 in Italy and died 9/30/1938 in Columbia county, Florida. His father was Ferma Brusa and his mother was Virginia Abbate, both born in Italy. I find Ferma and Virginia in Merrimac county, New Hampshire in 1920 with sons Louis and Manuel. Although I am not related directly to this man, I thought this information may be of some help to someone who is researching this surname. Emilio was listed as a stone cutter in the 1930 Palm Beach county, Florida census along with my grandmother and my father, James Joiner. I hope this will be helpful to someone.
James
Noted your August posting on the Brusa family. Our family line of Brusa comes down through a grandmother - maiden name Brusa. Her lines are from Bisuschio Italy - she immigrated to the USA as a bride to a cousin in 1907. Her father was Giovanni Brusa . He had brother named JOseph and sister Louisa - that's all I've found thus far - settling in the Barre/Montpelier area. Wonder if there is any conection.
C Calacci
