Looking to get find out the descendants of my grandpa's brothers and sisters. His name is Joe Nelson Brundidge. He lived was born in Brundidge Alabama in 1918 and from what I know has 10 brothers and sister. I knew him when he lived in Chatanooga Tenn. with my granny, aunts, and uncles. I was told I used to go to the annual family reunion when I was a child, but through trying times we stopped going and as I grew up I knew very little about it. I just found about the other spellings of the name from the Grand reunion, but would like to find out who the Brundidge's are/

Hi Shawn!

This information is very helpful. I just started searching 2 months ago and was stuck at my 2 x Great Grandfather Preston Brundidge until yesterday. Squire and Harriet are his parents, my 3 x Great Grandparents. I am trying to go back a step further but I think we may be at a wall with Squire being only 1 of two black Brundidge's from GA, but at least you have the plantation owner's name. I guess I will search slave records under those names - thanks for the info!

From what I can tell the Alabama Brundidge families came mostly from Georgia. There were 2 slave owners there, Jesse Brundage was the biggest from Stewart county, Stewart, Georgia. The other was A R Brundage from Twiggs county, Twiggs, Georgia. There were only 2 recorded black Brundidge in 1870 that were the oldest from Georgia. They were Hezekiah Brundidge (b1820) living in Darbys, Pike County and Wiley Brundige (b1825) living in Township 7, Crenshaw County. In 1880 they have a Squire Brundidge as being born in 1820's from Georgia but after looking at the children I think he is the same person as Hezekiah Brundidge. There was also a Harriet Brundidge who only shows up in the Darbys, Pike, Alabama 1870 census being born in the 1830's Georgia. There was Adam Brundridge born in the 1830's living in Union Church, Bullock, Ala. in 1870....there were a few young Brundidge families on page 31 of the census living next door to Adam as well. So there were Crenshaw, Pike and Bullock Brundidge from Georgia, the Crenshaw and Pike being born in early 1820's and the Bullock being born in the early 1830's. I'm bet the Pike (Hezekiah) and the Crenshaw (Wiley) were related possibly brothers or cousins and they came from the same plantation, not sure about the Bullock Brundidge.

I always thought that Hezekiah and Squire were the same person or possibly brothers along with Wiley. Here is the family of Hezekiah in 1870. He as some of the same childrens names and ages as Squire who shows up only in the 1880 census only and Harriet only shows up in the 1870 census.
The family of Hezekiah of Pike 1870 -
Hezekier Brundidge

50

Mary Brundidge

15

Rose Brundidge

12

Joshua Brundidge (Same as the 1880 squire child)

10

Laura Brundidge (Same as the 1880 squire child)

8

Beardy Brundidge

6

Squire was born in Germany(Rabun Cty) Ga, a small Village in Clayton GA.(not Clayton Cty) . Also try spelling the name Brundege. He was also remarried to a Mary Estes in 1881. I have also been doing the search. The big library's genealogical sections have more information that may help. There is a Brundidge family reunion every July.
Is your Brundridge Family connected to those that migrated from Kentucky to Howard County, Missouri in the early 1800s??? That family was of Solomon (various spellings of Brundage). This Solomon died in 1823 in Howard County and the Probate Records do indicate a son named John. Is this your connection?
Dave
drh2u@yahoo.com

Re: Looking for BRUNDRIDGE family

Renee,
In searching for my Brundage (sp) connection, I too found the many variations of spelling. I believe my ancestors are Brundage, and yet related closely to your John Brundridge. Fortunately, many of the families carried various given names through several generations. I now know that I descended from Solomon & Sarah (McCarty) Brundage (VA to KY to MO). It looks like many of their children followed from their birthplace in Kentucky to Missouri and scattered throughout the various areas that were the originally huge Howard County. The research solution that I found was the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) records which allowed me to see the various spellings of Brundage and the years of land patents that then enabled me to determine the generation and county of location for the various individuals. That might sound confusing, but their are BRUNDAGE, BRUNDIGE, BRUNDRIDGE, BRUNDEGE, BRUNDIGE families with given name like John, David, Cornelius, Solomon, Bartlett, Milburn, William, and Jeremiah.

Your John is in Dallas County, and the entire list might help you pinpoint his offspring and siblings. I personally descended from your John's sister Elizabeth (Betsy) Brundage who married Benjamin Caton and his name too was found in the BLM records in Howard County.

I would prefer not to attach the entire list here, but if you email me at drh2u@yahoo.com I will gladly send the list as an attachment directly to you, or you can search it out yourself at: http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/

Hopefully, we can cooperate on John and Betsy's parents Solomon and Sarah and their ancestors. I have also found Solomon's Rev. War evidence in Virginia.
Hope to hear from you,
Dave
drh2u@yahoo.com

Brundidge family of Pike Co AL

I am searching for any infomation on the family of Squire and Harriet Brundidge of Darbys. Based on my findings, Squire was born about 1820 in Georgia. Some of their children were Preston, Julia (m. Allen Tullis), Andrew, Wasington (m. Sallie or Sarah), Sophia, Willie, Leann.
Their son, Preston was married to Rachel (?). Some of their children were Clem, Nolie, Callie, Philip, Isaiah, Ballard, Jay D, Pike. Pike, Clem, Philip, and Ballard later moved to PA, mainly Fayette County.
Pike married Lottie William, daughter of Thomas and Nettie, about 1921. Squire, Preston, and Pike are the direct line I'm researching.
The 1870 census is the first record I have found on them. Any information would be greatly appreciated and I am more than happy to share what I've gathered so far.

Brundidge family Pike Co AL

I am researching the family of Pike Brundidge married to Lottie Williams of Darbys, AL and later moved to Fayette Co PA before 1920. Pike was the son of Preston and Rachel Brundidge. Some of his siblings were Clem, Ballard, Philip, Nolie, Penix.
Pike was the grandson of Squire and Harriet Brundidge. Some of Squire and Harriet's children were Julia (m. Allen Tullis), Andrew, Washington, Leann, Joe, Willie.
I found them in the census records beginning in 1870 and it appears that most of the family remained in the same area.
I would like to know anything at all about this family and their connections. I do know that Clem, Philip, and Pike moved to PA, but what I'm really interested in is the time prior to the 1900s.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I would be happy to share any of the info that I've gathered.

Hello, I was reading the message board with the Brundidge last names on it, I think you might be related to me also. My grandfather was R.B Brundidge, but everyone knew him as Red Brundidge. He was born and raised in the Glenwood AL, area. His father's name was John Brundidge. If you are familiar with these names, please email me back.

I am a decendent of Thomas Baber inwhich I am researching. I traveled to Alabama last year, and found lots of information. Baber,Thomas and Lula Brundidge amrried Feb 6,1879 at William Brundidge,(page 291,Bullock Co marriage recor book 4).
also Baber,Celeb and Sallie Brundidge married Feb 1, 1880 at Head's (page 366,Bullock Co marriage rec book 4.

If you have any information on the parents of Thomas and Caleb ,please respond. They were brothers and I think my grt.grt grandfather was their father. I have some information but would like to verify it.
Thanks and good luck.
Bennie
