You are correct that John Brownson (Bronson, Brunson) found a line of the family in South Carolina. John b. ca 1643 in Connecticut, d. bet 11 Jan 1711- 28 April 1712 in South Carolina. [Coddington, John Insley, “THE BROWNSON, BRONSON, OR BRUNSON FAMILY OF EARL'S COLNE, ESSEX, ENGLAND, - CONNECTICUT, AND SOUTH CAROLINA,” American Genealogist, The, Number 152 V 38 # 4, October 5 1962.] He m. Hannah Scott 25 Oct 1664 Farmington, Connecticut. [For marriage and dates of birth of the first 6 children, records of Wethersfield CT, in NEHGR 15:298.]
However, the article by Richard F Brownson demonstrates convincingly that John was the son of John Bronson (~ 1602 - ~1680) and Frances Hills (1605 - aft.1680) [See Coddington, Enderton among others. for John Sr. and Frances.] [See Bronson, Richard F. Plumbing the Depths of a Mystery in The House of Bronson/Brownson/Brunson. The Connecticut Nutmegger Vol 28 #4 (March 1996) pgs 553-5.]
