Marjorie E. Whitcomb, 84, of Ashland, Ohio died Wednesday afternoon, April 28, 2010 at her residence.

She was born in Ashland, Ohio on November 23, 1925 to the late William G. and Helen I (Pruner) Brownson, and had been a resident her entire life.

Marjorie graduated from Ashland High School in 1944 with perfect attendance. She became a Registered Nurse and worked at Samaritan Hospital, Griffith Nursing Home and the Good Shepherd Nursing Home. She later worked for Kroger Co. as a cashier and in the Produce and Plant departments.

She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, the C.J.U. Sunday School Class and was a member of the Uniontown Quilt Guild. She enjoyed caring for her family, playing cards and other games, working in her flowers and quilting.

On May 1, 1948 she was married to Virgil L. Whitcomb who preceded her in death on November 23, 2002.

She is survived by her children, Barbara (Tom) Goon of Nankin, Becky (Jim) Beattie of Ruggles, Joyce (Dan) Snyder of Hayesville, and Dean Whitcomb of Ashland; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren; one sister, Velma Gardner of Luckey, OH; and one brother, William (Myrt) Brownson of Defiance, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil; one granddaughter, Sue Ann Beattie; and one sister, Catherine Obrecht Rush.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in the Ashland Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday, April 30, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. at the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home.
