Would like the parents of Isaac Brown from Illinois. He was born in Ohio ca. 1836, married Phebe Riley, shows up in California in 1870, and died in Logan County, Illinois in 1892. Children include Louisa, Augusta, Adora, Emma (Ella). Please e-mail me.

Do you have a specific location or area in Logan county where he died? I do a lot of Logan county research as my family line is from that area. If you could narrow it down a little or give me a bith and death date(mmddyy) I may be able to get you a copy of the death record. That should tell you who the parents are, location of death and cause. place of birth etc.

I don't think there is a connection. The Brown line I am researching is from Logan County, IL. I think they came to Illinois from Kentucky, to Ohio, to Indiana and then settled in Illinois. Sorry, but thanks for the inquiry. Linda

Surnames: BROWN, HEDGES
G'day Linda,

I'm looking for information about Thomas BROWN and wife, Mary HEDGES. They were married in Ohio Co. KY in 1834. Their bondsman is recorded as James HEDGES, probably her father or elder brother. I'd like to find out their relationship.

James HEDGES moved his family to Logan Co. IL c1835. I can't locate Thomas and Mary in the 1840 or 1850 censuses of Ohio Co. KY... did they move to IL, too?

A related HEDGES, Josiah, married an Ann BROWN in Ohio Co. KY in 1818. They moved to IL, too, but some years before James did.

Do these folks tie in with your BROWNs at all?

Thanks,
Lee

Lee, got your message. I've not run across those names as of yet. However, you might like to know that Logan County did not exist in 1835. Logan County was split out of Sangamon County in 1839. My Brown line starts with William Brown who's son, Patrick Henry was my great, great grandfather. They settled in Logan County in the area around what is now Broadwell, IL. and Lincoln, IL. They came here from Indiana. All were farmers. Do you have any idea of a town near where they may have settled? Any death dates for any of them? If you could narrow some of the area down for me and possibly get a death date, I may be able to shed some light on them for you. Sangamon County, IL. was established in 1821 from a part of the North West Territory. Try checking the census for Sangamon County, IL. You might hit on some of them. Keep me posted. Thanks, Linda

Thanks anyway, Linda. :-)

This HEDGES clan mostly settled around Atlanta, in that little bit of Logan County that at different times had belonged to DeWitt Co. and Sangamon Co. I can't remember off hand whether it was ever part of Tazewell Co., but it might have been.

Lee, recieved your response. If they came from Atlanta, IL., they may well be related to my line. Most of the line of Brown's I'm researching came from Lincoln which is only about 10 miles from Atlanta. I have to go to Lincoln and do some research anyway, so I will see if I can find anything on Isaac Brown. There are a number of Brown's buried in the Atlanta Cemetery. I have been there and made a list of the Brown stones. I will try to go thru the list and see if I find an Isaac or Thomas Brown. There is also a book at our Genealogical Society that has an inventory of cemeteries. I won't get down to Lincoln before next weekend or the weekend after so bear with me on the time part. I work half days Mon. thru Fri. so I can't go during the week. I am about 40 minutes away from Lincoln. Will be in touch. Linda
